Love Me Rite (1994)
for soprano, string orchestra, and big band
Love Me Rite was written for the Hard Rubber Orchestra's Elvis Cantata, a blow out event that (in its two concert incarnations) combined arrangements of Elvis hits with wild performances, impersonators, improvisations, and images, all of which was threatened by Graceland's lawyers in a cease-and-desist order. Love Me Rite blends Love Me Tender with Stravinski's Rite of Spring, with a touch a Marilyn thrown in. This video is from the CBC production of 2005.
